Wenger: Break will harm us

Arsene Wenger is already counting the cost of the international break - with the loss of a key player for Arsenal's next Premiership match.

As the Gunners opened up a three-point lead in the Premiership with their 2-1 victory at Manchester City yesterday, Gilberto Silva left Britain this morning to play in two World Cup qualifiers for Brazil.

Wenger has already ruled Gilberto out of the home game with Portsmouth on 13 September.

The situation has increased Wenger's determination to push for FIFA to allocate a twomonth break during the year which will be used for international football only.

Fredrik Ljungberg, scorer of the winner at the City of Manchester Stadium, could also be a doubt. The Swede is expected to be involved in his country's clash with Poland on 10 September.
