Wenger hoping to wreck Fergie's transfer plans for the second time

Arsene Wenger is ready to wreck Sir Alex Ferguson's transfer strategy for the second time by beating him to Blackburn's £10million rated striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Arsenal manager has already scored over his rival by signing 17-year-old Cardiff midfielder Aaron Ramsey in a £5m deal.

Santa Cruz scored 23 goals for Blackburn last season after a bargain £3.5m move from Bayern Munich and figures on Ferguson's shopping list.

But Wenger fears Arsenal could lose top scorer Emmanuel Adebayor to AC Milan and has targeted the Paraguay striker.

Eduardo could be involved in pre-season training after suffering an horrific broken ankle at Birmingham in February. Physio Gary Lewin said: 'We are are confident he will make a full recovery.'
