Wenger in search for midfielder

On the lookout: Arsene Wenger
13 April 2012

Arsene Wenger wants to sign a midfield player before the transfer window closes.

Although Aaron Ramsey, 17, and Samir Nasri, 21, have arrived at Arsenal, the departures of Mathieu Flamini, Gilberto and Alexander Hleb have left Wenger short of experience in midfield.

The Gunners manager would not reveal his potential targets, though Gareth Barry has been linked with an £18million move from Aston Villa.

"We will need one more body in midfield," said Wenger, whose team drew 1-1 with Hungarian side Szombathelyi Haladas last night thanks to a Theo Walcott goal.

"If we find a reasonable target then we will do it but there is no special name on the list."
