Wenger unhappy with United advantage
Arsene Wenger today blasted the Premier League fixture compilers for what he feels is the preferential treatment given to Manchester United next week.
Arsenal face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night, four days after Sunday's FA Cup trip to Cardiff City.
United's next tie after tomorrow's Cup visit of Tottenham is at West Brom on Tuesday, 24 hours earlier than Arsenal.
Wenger believes United should play on Wednesday as they do not compete again until Monday's match against Everton. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has also hinted the champions have been giving a helping hand and Wenger said: "Manchester United have an advantage. It is difficult to explain why one team plays on Tuesday and the others are all on Wednesday. It is unfair competition.
"Next week the fixtures are in Manchester United's favour. I supported them (against Rafa Benitez's claims of bias) but this week, I think Benitez has a case.
"I do not think you need to be a specialist in football to understand that in this case it is an unfair advantage for Manchester United.
"It is not Manchester United's fault, it is not Liverpool's fault. It is the organisation of the fixtures."
The Gunners boss also insists Arsenal have done all they can to sign Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg.
He added: "There's no news basically. I am more focused to do well with the players I have than to be obsessed with the players I can buy or not buy. At the moment Arshavin is two per cent of my worries."
