West Ham are desperate to offload veteran midfielder Freddie Ljungberg as the Hammers revert to giving youth a chance.

Swede dreams: Freddie Ljungberg will captain Sweden against Brazil tonight

The former Arsenal star is believed to be among the top earners at West Ham, raking in about £80,000-a-week - full back Lucas Neill is in the same salary bracket - and recent matches have seen Curbishley put increased faith in his rising stars.

James Tomkins, 19 this weekend, started in the Hammers' 1-1 draw at Everton last Saturday and 18-year-old Freddie Sears, who burst on to the Barclays Premier League scene with a goal on debut against Blackburn, has featured in West Ham's last two outings.
