Strike: Ravel Morrison

Standard Sport13 November 2014

England will look to maintain their 100 per cent start to European Championship qualifying when they welcome Slovenia to Wembley on Saturday.

The match is all set to be Wayne Rooney’s 100th as an England player, but it will also give a number of new – and old – faces a chance to shine on the international stage.

One young English player who won’t be involved at Wembley is Ravel Morrison - although in today’s instalment of our series charting the best football videos on YouTube, we have perfect evidence of the forward’s potential.

The video comes from a training session involving the England Under-21s squad in November last year.

We see the ball being crossed from the right flank, aimed towards the onrushing Morrison. He looks to be shaping up for a standard right-foot volley, but unleashes a remarkable mid-air crossover strike.

The shot fires into the top-hand corner, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
