Wheeler faces RFU hearing

13 April 2012

Peter Wheeler, chief executive of Leicester Tigers, will appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary hearing on 8 August charged with bringing the game in disrepute.

The hearing follows a complaint from Bristol Shoguns RFC regarding comments made by former England captain Wheeler in a local newspaper and on the Leicester club's website.

The hearing will deal with three charges: public criticism of the appointed referee of the Bristol Shoguns and Leicester Tigers match on 5 May, making critical comments concerning members of the Bristol Shoguns and failing to take all possible steps to prevent the game from being brought into disrepute.
