Wilkins in frame for new post

Ken Dyer13 April 2012

Ray Wilkins today confirmed that he had been approached by Portsmouth regarding the assistant manager's job at Fratton Park but said that nothing has been decided.

The former QPR and Fulham manager - who has been out of the game since leaving his coaching job at Chelsea - had a meeting with player/manager Steve Claridge and chairman Milan Mandaric in Winchester but said today: "It was an informal chat and there were no decisions from either side.

"The chairman said he had a number of people to interview about the position and I am happy with that.

"I am keen to get back into the game and I definitely believe that Portsmouth have the potential and resources to make significant progress.

"There's nothing more to say about the situation though, for the time being."
