Williams: More of the same for F1

Frank Williams feels McLaren and Ferrari will again set the pace in Formula One this season - but with the fervent hope his team are back challenging.

New rules this year aim to create a level playing field, with no team certain of the direction they have taken over the past few months.

That was notable yesterday as four of the five teams to show their new car at the first test at the Algarve Motor Park sported different aerodynamic interpretations.

With increased overtaking on the agenda, teams have had to design a wider front nose and wing, along with a higher, narrower rear wing.

"It will be a very interesting year," said team chief Williams. "The new aero rules mean a different approach to the cars in a number of areas.

"By the time we get to Melbourne I'd expect the usual suspects to still be dominating the top two positions. More importantly, I hope Williams will have made a large step forward."
