Williams to face Klitschko in Las Vegas

13 April 2012

Danny Williams' world heavyweight title fight against Vitali Klitschko will take place in Las Vegas.

It was confirmed today that the fight will be held at the Mandalay Bay Casino on 11 December.

The 31-year-old Briton has been given a shot at the World Boxing Council title after his shock win over Mike Tyson in the fourth round of their fight in July.

Klitschko said: "Williams may have shocked the world once but he will not shock the world again."

The fight was originally set for New York but Williams, seemed unconcerned at the change of venue.

"I've always wanted to box in Vegas," said Williams. "All the great fighters have boxed there and it would be nice to go to Vegas, win the title and bring it back to Britain.

"His height [6ft 7in] will cause a lot of problems. I didn't realise he was that tall before the press conference. It's going to be hard getting to his head but I'm going to do what [Lennox] Lewis told me to do - work his body and his head will fall."
