Williams wins again

Serena Williams continued her comeback from her injury lay-off by defeating Lucie Safarova 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7/5) in the second round of the WTA Moorilla Hobart International on Tuesday.

Williams is recovering from a four-month spell on the sidelines with ankle and knee problems, and has not played a tournament since the US Open in early September.

After winning the first set, the American fell 4-1 behind in the second before saving a break-point to level at 4-4, but Safarova held on to take the set. The Czech player ran Williams close in the decider but lost out after a tie-break as Williams advanced.
