Willis weathers the snow and triumphs

Garrett Willis won the weather-delayed Tucson Open in Arizona in his first tournament as a PGA Tour member beating Kevin Sutherland by a stroke.

The 27-year-old Willis compiled a four-round total of 15-under-par 273.

The tournament was extended a day after snow and freezing rain halted play on Friday.

Former Tucson Open runner-up Bob Tway and Australian Geoff Ogilvy tied for third place on 275.

The victory was worth $540,000 to Willis who is now exempt on the PGA Tour until the end of 2002. He said: "I was going to Tour School a month ago and now this. It's great"
