Windy Lord's is the big issue for Amy Oliver

Amy Oliver says attempting to control her weak bow in the wind is her biggest challenge as she seeks to excel at this week's Archery Classic at Lord's cricket ground.

"It's been really tricky," said 23-year-old Oliver, who is competing in the recurve competition at the Olympic test event. "The slope [at Lord's] isn't a problem at all - we know it's there so we work with that. The wind is the biggest problem.

"I've been working on my strength because my bow isn't as strong [as the other archers'] so my arrows get affected more in the wind. I have to be smarter, in terms of where I'm going to aim."

To help her succeed, Oliver said reading about the success of Dame Kelly Holmes has spurred her on.

"She is a big inspiration to me," added Oliver. "She came and watched when we shot (and won silver in the women's team event at the Commonwealth Games) in Delhi. She was in the crowd, shouting and cheering for us to win. I've read her autobiography - she's amazing."
