Yarm have a habit of winning tight games and they had to rely on scoringmore tries than Princee Henry's from Otley to secure a third round home tieagainst QEGS, Wakefield.

Ashville College went through on the away ruleafter a hard-fought 12-12 draw with Hartlepool VIth Form College.

Ashville's dominant forwards provided them with the opening try butHartlepool made use of overlaps to send in full back Andrew Hare for twotries, one of which he converted.

But Ashville, who are now home to LeedsGrammar, came back strongly with another forwards try.

Bradford Grammar arehaving a mixed saeson but they had a good day against Mirfield in thesecond round with two tries apiece from David Rees, Jamie Teal and DanielSolmi in their 57-0 win.

But coach Charlie Lines warned them they mighthave to take better options against a better defence. It was harder thanthe 34-7 scoreline suggests for Dame Allan's against Haydon Bridge.

DuncanSteele had a good day with the boot for Sir John Deane's againstBridgewater being responsible for 18 points in the Northwich school's 33-3win.

They were dominant throughout and scored 26 of their points by halftime.

Richard Murdin, Howard Edwards and Paul Houghton went over for thetries.
