Ziege crocked so Spurs look for help

Adrian Curtis13 April 2012

Tottenham's injury crisis deepened today when German international Christian Ziege was ruled out for up to six weeks with knee ligament damage.

He has returned to Germany to see a specialist.

Spurs were told last week that Steffen Freund is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury and other long-term casualties include Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty and Goran Bunjevcevic.

Striker Les Ferdinand, who hurt his ankle in the defeat at Ipswich, has a chance of being fit for Wednesday night's FA Cup third round tie at Coventry, but Ziege misses that game, plus next week's Worthington Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea - and could even miss the Worthington final if Spurs qualify.

Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle is now to investigate the possibility of bringing in players on loan.

Midfielder Tim Sherwood, linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers last week, will now not be allowed to leave White Hart Lane.
