Actress Laura Main has won the coveted golden Pudsey Bear trophy after impressing the Strictly Come Dancing judges during a Call The Midwife special for Children In Need.

Main performed the twist to Tutti Frutti with Brendan Cole as she competed against her co-stars Jenny Agutter, Stephen McGann and Jack Ashton for the fundraising showcase.

Ashton also danced the twist while Agutter and McGann waltzed their way around the ballroom to Moon River.

Craig Revel Horwood praised Main’s “exciting” dance and was equally as impressed with Agutter’s attempt.

“Jenny darling, elegant,” he said. “Steven bit of a hunchback of Notre Dame, but positive side your thumb was down throughout which I love.

“Jack I thought you were kicking and flicking like a rugby player, but Laura, very very impressed – clean, sharp exciting well done.”

Darcey Bussell said of the dancers: “Steven you get a little kink in your head when you smile, but it was heaven – absolutely charming.”

But after deliberating head judge Len Goodman declared Main the winner.

Clearly shocked to earn the title, the actress said: “It was such a group effort we’ve had such fun doing it and I’m just so pleased everybody went right and we’ve hopefully put on a show.”

Sir Bruce Forsyth was reunited with Tess Daly as he returned for the charity special.
