The Big Fat Quiz of Everything: everything you need to know about the Channel 4 contest

Jimmy Carr returns as quizmaster to put a new set of celebrity guests to the test
Quiz: Jimmy Carr returns as host
Channel Four

The Big Fat Quiz of Everything is back for 2019 with a brand new line-up of celebrity guests.

The two-hour special follows last year’s edition of the perennially popular Big Fat Quiz of the Year, which aired over the festive period.

The show’s latest cohort of comedians will have hopefully brushed up on their general knowledge beforehand, as they’ll have to answer questions on a whole host of topics, from James Bond trivia to niche Polish film titles.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show:

Who hosts The Big Fat Quiz of Everything?

Man of the moment: Comedian Jimmy Carr plays host
Channel Four

Comedian Jimmy Carr will once again be doing the honours as quiz master, having fronted the show since its launch in 2016 (he’s also presented the Big Fat Quiz of the Year since its debut in 2004).

Who are the celebrity guests?

Carr will be joined by six celebrity guests, who’ve been paired up to answer the questions. Comedian Katherine Ryan will be joining forces with rapper and presenter Big Narstie, Great British Bake Off co-host Sandi Toksvig will form a double act with Joe Lycett, while David Baddiel and Frank Skinner will reunite to form the show’s final pair. Impromptu singalong to Three Lions, anyone?

What will happen on the show?

Contestants will have to put their general knowledge to good use as they attempt to answer a series of questions on everything from history and geography to science and the arts, with some random snippets of pop culture thrown in for good measure.

A handful of celebrity question setters (including actor Charles Dance) will crop up throughout the show to put the comedians to the test. Plus, veteran news presenter Jon Snow could make a comeback, after his all-singing, all-dancing appearances on previous quizzes (including a particularly memorable spoof of Drake’s Hotline Bling video) went down a storm on social media.

When is The Big Fat Quiz of Everything on TV?

It will air at 9pm on January 4 on Channel 4, so reserve a spot on the sofa accordingly.
