The pair withstood the temptation to go high-drama with their sartorial selects — and it paid off

Zoe Kravitz achieved simple sophistication with sultry edge at last night’s London premiere of The Batman.

Taking to the red carpet at Waterloo’s BFI IMAX cinema, the YSL ambassador stayed loyal to Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello in her straight silhouette, black gown. As with most of Vaccarello’s black tie creations, it came with a subtle twist in the form of eyelet cut-outs on the under boob, plus a scallop cut square neckline.

The actor, who plays Catwoman in the film released March 4 this year, kept accessories simple with a pair of emerald and double pearl earrings by Jessica McCormack, and plain black leather heeled mules. Her hair was kept up in a sleek up-do, save for a sideways combed fringe.

She was joined by Batman himself, Robert Pattinson, who opted for a slouched tailored look that verged on grungy, designed by Luke and Lucie Meier of Jil Sander. His oversized grey jacket was paired with matching baggy trousers, a black polo neck and bulky silver chain bracelet.

Together, R-Patz and Kravitz turned away from the high-octane statements that have defined recent premiere carpets, in favour a played down, cool look that exuded more effortless chic that fashion drama.
