A callous thug has been jailed for five years after he ripped out an elderly woman's earrings during a robbery at her home in which he posed as a gasman.

Manoj Gorsia, of Wembley, was found guilty of robbery at Harrow Crown Court after attacking the 75-year-old pensioner at her house in north west London.

In December last year, he pushed the woman to the ground before ripping both earrings from her ears and pulling off a chain from around her neck. He then fled the scene.

Police tracked Gorsia down after he left paperwork at the woman's home which was covered in his fingerprints.

He was arrested at his home address and charged with robbery hours later in February this year, four months after the robbery.

Along with his jail sentence, Gorsia, from Wembley, was also issued with a three year licence and criminal behaviour order for five years.

The order, issued last Thursday, prevents him from entering driveways, gardens or yards of any residential property in London without a reasonable excuse.

Detective Constable Martina English from Brent Forensic Conversion Team said: "Bogus callers are the most callous people as they often target older and more vulnerable people and will try to trick or con their way in.

"I hope that Gorsia's imprisonment brings some form of justice to his victim."
