London New Year's Eve Fireworks: Tickets sold out ahead of celebrations

Tickets to the London's New Year’s Eve fireworks display have sold out ahead of the annual celebrations on the Southbank.

Police warned Londoners not to attempt to attend the event without a ticket and advised those who wish to see the fireworks to watch it on the TV from the comfort of their own homes.

"Tickets for the Mayor's firework display toinght in central London are sold out!" they wrote.

"If you want to see the fireworks, our advice is to watch the TV broadcast from the comfort and warmth of your own home."

It is anticipated that hundreds of thousands of people will be celebrating the new year in the city on Sunday evening.

TfL’s Tubes and trains will be free on New Year’s Eve

Revellers who are heading out to ring in the new year can look forward to free travel on the capital’s tube and bus network.

Transport for London has said that the vast majority of its trains will be running throughout the night.
