West Ham boss David Moyes played down the significance of his side moving back into the Premier League’s top four after victory over Norwich on Wednesday.

The Hammers made it three league wins on the bounce with a 2-0 triumph over the division’s bottom side, a run which represents a timely return to form after a pre-Christmas slump that threatened to derail early hopes of a genuine Champions League push.

The win puts Moyes’ men into fourth, two points clear of Arsenal having played a game more, though Tottenham are only four points adrift in sixth with three games in hand after a series of postponements.

Arsenal and Spurs play one another in this weekend’s north London derby, meaning the Hammers could consolidate their position by beating Leeds on Sunday - but Moyes is refusing to obsess over current position.

“”We have to try and keep it going,” Moyes told BBC Sport. “I don’t think being fourth this moment in time means an awful lot apart from showing we have been consistent.

“As long as we are around the mix and European places, that will be really good but if we can hang on the coat tails of teams above...that is what we will try and do.”

Jarrod Bowen continued his superb run of form by scoring both goals in the 2-0 win at the London Stadium and afterwards Moyes praised his development.

“His all-round play is improving,” the Scot added. “He has been great for us and has got goals and assists in him.”
