Erling Haaland’s father Alf-Inge and his agent Mino Raiola arrived in Barcelona on Thursday morning as the Catalan club bid to steal a march on their rivals vying to sign him.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are among a host of top European clubs interested in signing Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

And his representatives arrived at Barcelona airport on Thursday amid speculation they are set for talks with new president Joan Laporta over a move to the Catalan club.

Whether Barcelona can afford Haaland remains to be seen given their financial difficulties, but Chelsea know they are in a battle to land one of the hottest properties in world football.

Manchester United are long-term admirers of Haaland and have made alterations to their recruitment department that they hope will see them secure a transfer they missed out on in January last year.

Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep the 20-year-old striker for another year but his representatives flying to Barcelona could now intensify the battle to sign him.
