Fantasy Premier League tips: FPL transfers, deadline today, scout and captain options for gameweek 28

Matt Verri5 March 2022

Fantasy Premier League managers do not have long to change their team and take advantage of a mammoth double gameweek 28.

The deadline this week is at 11am on Saturday morning, ahead of Leeds’ trip to face Leicester. Liverpool host West Ham later in the day, while Manchester City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad on Sunday.

Chelsea, Norwich, Southampton, Newcastle, Wolves, Watford, Leeds and Aston Villa all have two matches this gameweek.

Here, we take a look at our top five picks for another busy week of FPL action...

Thiago Silva - Chelsea - £5.6m

It is difficult to predict which of his attacking players Thomas Tuchel will turn to for each match, but there is a bit more predictability at the back. Thiago Silva can be expected to start at the back for Chelsea and with matches against Burnley and Norwich, the two lowest scoring teams in the league, the clean sheets could well follow.

Joe Willock - Newcastle - £5.7m

Newcastle look to be finding real form under Eddie Howe, and Joe Willock has been an important part of that. The midfielder has two goals and an assist in his last three Premier League matches - he could well continue that run against Brighton and Southampton this gameweek.

Raphinha - Leeds - £6.5m

It’s difficult to know what to expect from Leeds, now Marcelo Bielsa has gone and new manager Jesse Marsch has taken charge. What would do know is that anything positive in attack is likely to go through Raphinha, and he can take advantage of matches against Leicester and Aston Villa.

Armando Broja - Southampton - £5.5m

Armando Broja already has six goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League this season, helping Southampton up into the top half of the table. He has two games to look forward to this week - a trip to face Aston Villa before the Saints host Newcastle.

Conor Coady - Wolves - £4.8m

Wolves have been known for low-scoring affairs under Bruno Lage, and they boast the fourth-best defensive record in the league. Conor Coady has missed 14 minutes of Premier League action all season, and will be targeting more clean sheets as his side host Crystal Palace and Watford.
