LaLiga has been given the Spanish government's official approval to return to action on June 11, with the competition set to finish on July 19.

After over two months of inactivity due to coronavirus, LaLiga have been working towards a resumption for Spain's top two divisions next month – starting with the Seville derby on June 11 – and those plans have now been rubber-stamped by the National Sports Council (CSD).

"The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga have agreed, in the contact group together with the National Sports Council (CSD), the format for carrying out the outstanding 11 rounds of completion in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank," a statement said on Friday.

"The resumption of the competition will take place on the weekend of June 13 and June 14, with the first game on Thursday June 11 between Sevilla FC and Real Betis Balompie.

"The last day will take place, in theory and always on the basis of the evolution of the pandemic, on the weekend of July 18 and 19."

That means teams will have to play 11 matches in a period of just over five weeks, with fixtures set to take place every day across that period.
