Liverpool fans were thanking "Agent Minamino" after the loanee's goal for Southampton hampered Chelsea's top-four push.

The Blues were looking to open up a five-point gap over the champions in the search for Champions League football next season as they kicked off the day's action at St Mary's.

Despite boasting over 70 per cent possession, Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw as Takumi Minamino providing a fine finish to stun them in the first half.

Nathan Redmond's through-ball showed the profligate Chelsea how to produce a telling final pass, and Liverpool loanee Minamino took his goal in style by putting Edouard Mendy on his backside before slotting home.

Mason Mount would equalise from the penalty spot in the second half but this would go down as two points dropped for Chelsea against a team who had lost six on the trot heading into the game.

Liverpool can now overtake Chelsea with a big win over Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
