Ruben Loftus-Cheek's father claims the Chelsea midfielder would be a Premier League regular under Mauricio Pochettino instead of being "held back" by Jose Mourinho.
The 21-year-old midfielder has impressed on loan at Crystal Palace this season despite the Eagles sitting bottom of the Premier League, and his performances were enough to earn a call-up to Gareth Southgate's senior England squad for the November international break.
Loftus-Cheek starred in Friday's goalless draw against world champions Germany at Wembley, earning him the man-of-the-match award and plenty of praise from Southgate and his team-mates alike.
The midfielder made 11 appearances for Antonio Conte's title-winning Chelsea last season, and is on a season-long loan at Selhurst Park in order to gain top-flight experience.
However, Loftus-Cheek's father, Trevor, told the Daily Mail that he felt his son's development had been hampered while former Blues boss Mourinho was in the Stamford Bridge hotseat for a second spell between 2013 to 2015, during which time Chelsea sold Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.
"Jose Mourinho held him back," said Loftus-Cheek's father. "He should have been playing.
"Everyone behind the scenes was asking: 'why isn’t he playing?'"
Tottenham coach Pochettino has been praised for bringing a number of young British players through to become Spurs and international regulars, including Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks.

And Loftus-Cheek's father believes that if the Argentine had been overseeing his son instead of now-Manchester United boss Mourinho, then England would have another Premier League regular to count on: "If Ruben was playing for Mauricio Pochettino, he’d have 70, 80, 90 first team appearances by now."
Loftus-Cheek was snapped up by Chelsea's academy at the age of eight after impressing for Springfield FC - and his father says the Blues knew they had a talent on their hands straight away.
‘He is like a Rolls Royce," he added. "He used to win all of the player of the year awards.
"But once Chelsea clapped eyes on him they knew what he was. They knew he was special."
