Former Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu has issued a damning assessment of Ronald Koeman's managerial approach following the Dutchman's appointment at Camp Nou.
Koeman was officially presented as Barca's new head coach on a two-year contract on Wednesday, leaving his role as Netherlands boss to succeed the sacked Quique Setien and try to turn around the club's fortunes after a first trophy-less season since 2007-08 and Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.
The 57-year-old is a returning hero for many, having previously been one of the stars of Johan Cruyff's Barcelona 'Dream Team' of the early-to-mid 1990s that won four consecutive LaLiga titles, with Koeman also scoring the winning goal in their maiden European Cup triumph in 1992.
However, others have questioned the appointment, with the experienced Koeman's last club job before he guided his country to the final of the inaugural Uefa Nations League and qualification for Euro 2020 ending on a sour note.
After a successful two-year stint at Southampton, he was sacked by Everton in October 2017 after only 16 months at the helm with the club languishing in the Premier League relegation zone despite a summer transfer spend totalling around £140million.
Deulofeu - now at Watford - played under Koeman at Goodison Park, but certainly does not appear to hold fond memories of that period of his career.
"I can tell you about Koeman from my personal experience, and I have very little to tell you about Koeman," he said on Catalunya Radio.
"He provided me absolutely nothing. I wasn't happy, I asked to leave and I went to Milan. We'll see how he does at Camp Nou."
