West Ham hope to have their new manager in place by the end of next week.

Co-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady have scheduled interviews over this weekend and are expected to make a final decision next week.

The club wanted to hold talks with Sevilla manager Unai Emery yesterday but he remained in Spain, where he tweeted a picture of himself watching his son play football.

The 43-year-old Emery, who guided the Spanish club to successive Europa League triumphs, has already had a firm offer from Italian club Napoli following Rafa Benitez’s departure to Real Madrid.

Sevilla are preparing an improved package to keep Emery in southern Spain and lead the club in next season’s Champions League.

Former Croatia manager Slaven Bilic also remains a front runner. The former West Ham and Everton defender has managed at club level in Turkey and Russia but, like Emery, has no Premier League managerial experience.

Meanwhile, the Upton Park club remain interested in signing Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang from Serie A side Sampdoria.

Obiang, who has three Spain Under-21 caps, is seen as a replacement for Alex Song, who has returned to Barcelona following the completion of his season-long loan spell at West Ham.
