Interest from Juventus is complicating Tottenham's move for Porto defender Ricardo Pereira.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to add a right-back to compete with Kieran Trippier and Pereira is high on the list.

Tottenham had scouted the Portugal defender and Porto were confident their £22million asking price would be met, especially with Manchester City closing in on a record-equalling £50m move for Kyle Walker.

But Pereira's Portuguese agent is thought to have been uncertain at the direction of negotiations, with confusion about who would represent the player in the deal.

Now it is thought Juventus, seeking a right-back after Dani Alves' departure, have been encouraged to show their hand.

Pereira has spent the last two seasons in Ligue 1, on loan at Nice. He impressed Spurs head scout Steve Hitchen, a French football expert, during that period.

Tottenham were also keen on Djibril Sidibe, who scored against them for Monaco in last November’s Champions League defeat, but he has now signed a contract extension with the French champions that expires in 2022.
