Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg reveals he was impressed by Tottenham's character and preparation in their historic 6-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The midfielder has hit the ground running since securing a £15million transfer from Southampton, playing in every minute of Tottenham's four Premier League games this season.

Tottenham overcame the daunting task of playing four games in eight days, qualifying for both the Europa League group stage and Carabao Cup quarter-finals, while only a controversial handball decision against Newcastle prevented two league wins from as many games.

Hojbjerg played a crucial role in the stunning Old Trafford win, proving a force in midfield while displaying his passing ability with a defence-splitting ball to Serge Aurier for the fifth goal.

The Dane has praised his side not only for the performance over 90 minutes, but highlighted the role the coaching staff played in their preparation.

"It was not just the 90 minutes on the pitch, but also it was the preparation for the game," he said. "The coaching staff prepared us really well.

"The team executed the plan and the quality in the team was produced as well so all in all a very very nice day for the club and the players."

Explaining how Tottenham had come through such a tough schedule, Hojbjerg put it down to the squad's character, while emphasising the club's goal in each and every game.

"The word for me is character," he said. "It shows that there is only one thing we are going for and that is to win every single game we are playing.

"Of course you need quality and of course you need fit players but for me the character really stands out that we keep going and keep pushing and that is very nice to be part of."

Tottenham head into the international break in fine form and will return with new-signings Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale fit and rearing to go as they face West Ham on October 18.
