Find a manager. That's the obvious priority for Crystal Palace after the shock departure of Sam Allardyce.

Sean Dyche, Roy Hodgson, Marco Silva and Walter Mazarri have all been named among the runners and riders for the job.

Whoever gets the job must firmly establish an identity for the team, to avoid yet another relegation battle.

The supporters loved Alan Pardew's "street football," when it was successful.

They were then grateful for Allardyce's more pragmatic approach when he kept them up.

But it’s really time Palace aspired to more than just hard graft.

They are a club with a huge catchment area and wealthy American owners.

They have become serious players in the transfer market after paying a record £27 million for Christian Benteke.

They should be looking upwards - not over their shoulders -especially with rivals Brighton arriving in the Premier League.
