Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to get off to a winning start after taking over as Spurs manager this summer.

The Argentine hands a Premier League debut to Eric Dier, who is partnered by captain Younes Kaboul in defence.

Erik Lamela is also handed a starting berth, and Pochettino will be hoping his countryman can make an impact after failing to impress during a tough first season following his £30m move from Roma.

West Ham's £11m summer signing Eno Valencia is on the bench as Ricardo Vaz Te leads the line alongside Carlton Cole.

West Ham team: Adrian, O'Brien, Reid, Collins, Cresswell, Nolan (c), Noble, Kouyate, Downing, Cole, Vaz Te.

Subs: Jaaskelainen, Zarate, Demel, Diame, Poyet, Valencia, Burke

Spurs team: Lloris; Naughton, Dier, Kaboul (C), Rose; Bentaleb, Capoue; Lennon, Eriksen, Lamela; Adebayor.

Subs: Friedel, Davies, Dawson, Holtby, Townsend, Kane, Soldado
