Wojciech Szczesny is in advanced talks over a £14m move to Juventus.

The 27-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy at Roma and has just one year left on his existing contract with Arsenal.

However, Wenger is looking to sign a goalkeeper this summer with Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford among his preferred options and although David Ospina is also expected to leave the club for Fenerbahce, Szczesny has little prospect of regular action at Emirates Stadium.

The news will come as a blow to Roma, who had hoped to keep hold of Szczesny after the goalkeeper made a success of his time at the Stadio Olimpico.

“He told me that he wanted to stay with us,” Roma president James Palotta said earlier this week.

Szczesny will have to wait for regular action if he moves to Juventus, however, given Gianluigi Buffon, 39, intends to play on for a further year before retiring after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
