Wolves vs Chelsea: The numbers add up for Antonio Conte this season

Danny Murphy17 February 2017

Life will soon change for Chelsea. Next season they will no longer have full weeks to prepare for matches, as they will almost certainly be involved once again in the Champions League.

It will be a different challenge for Antonio Conte and his squad but he will be thinking, “Bring it on”.

Along with Manchester United, Chelsea have the strongest squad in the Premier League and rather than stretching them, Europe will enable Conte to give more playing time to some of those who often find themselves on the bench.

At the moment, Willian cannot always get in the team because Pedro is playing so well.

Cesc Fabregas is one of the most creative players in Europe but he is not in the first-choice XI.

Kurt Zouma is a very promising young centre-back, yet cannot get a regular game.

What Chelsea will do is add a couple of top players to their squad and give more responsibility to some of their youngsters, such as Nathan Ake, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah.

Even Michy Batshuayi, who could feature against Wolves tomorrow, can still be a threat.

1/5

He looks a handful but hasn’t had many chances this season because Diego Costa has been superb.
