Langton are in a league of their own

13 April 2012

Sixty-eight schools are fighting it out to win the first honours in the Standard's new football league.

Our first XI league is sponsored by the Nike Bootroom, in Oxford Street, who are giving away a great set of training shirts to November's team of the month, which will be announced next week.

Simon Langton Grammar, in Kent, have set a strong pace by winning their opening eight matches, including a 10-1 romp over Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School.

St Bede's, from Sussex, have put the professionals to shame by playing 19 games already, winning 16 and including a victory over John Madejski Academy in the English Schools' FA Cup.

The team-of-the-month award will be decided on achievement and improvement, not just wins.

To nominate your team, email: schoolsfootball@standard.co.uk with brief reasons why your team deserves the award.

If your school is not included ask your school's sports teacher to visit www.SchoolsSports.com where they will find details on how to become a member school for free and how to upload information.
