Sculthorpe in Saints contention

14 April 2012

Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe is set to return to action in St Helens' engage Super League clash with Huddersfield on Friday.

Sculthorpe suffered medial ligament damage in his left knee during the Lions' Test victory over New Zealand in June but has made a rapid recovery.

The 28-year-old is included in coach Daniel Anderson's squad for the visit of the Giants, with Saints tackling their Challenge Cup final opponents three weeks before they meet at Twickenham.

Sculthorpe has been hampered by injuries over the past year and missed last autumn's Tri-Nations Series after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

Saints have no fresh injury concerns following their cup semi-final win over Hull KR and will resist the temptation to rest players this week, despite holding a six-point lead at the top of the table.

Huddersfield were the first team to beat Saints this season, earning a 19-16 victory at the Galpharm Stadium in May to end the leaders' 12-game winning run.
