A man was hit with his own walking stick as he was robbed of £4 and his cigarettes in north-west London.

The 55-year-old was approached by two men who demanded his money as he made a trip to his local shop on the Grahame Park Estate in Barnet, police said.

After the victim refused, one of the suspects snatched the elderly man’s walking stick and hit him three times on the legs.

The pair then took the man’s cigarettes and a lighter as well as £4 in change before running off along Corner Mead Road.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any information about the attack at approximately 4pm on Friday evening to come forward.

The suspects are described as black, with African accents. They were wearing black hooded tops and black baseball caps.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
